Awareness is Power!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; a time to show support for those impacted by the disease, a time to reflect, give back, celebrate victories as well as raise awareness.
This month, we are featuring Tricia Skarr, RN, OCN Coordinator, Oncology Services of HCA Florida Hospital Trinity who will be talking about breast cancer awareness and the proper way to perform a breast self-exam.

Our main event guest speaker is none other than Paula S. O'Neil, Ph.D.
Since her diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer in 2013, Paula S. O’Neil, Ph.D., has been committed to an enhanced quality of life as a cancer fighter and survivor, spreading the message of early detection, making a difference, and the importance of life balance.
Her career has been dedicated to excellence in government. Paula has worked for Pasco County, Florida, for more than 30 years, most recently as the elected Clerk of Circuit Court & County Comptroller. With a continual desire to mentor and teach, Paula also serves as an adjunct professor for Saint Leo University in the MBA program. ​Paula holds a doctorate of philosophy in Applied Management and Decision Sciences. She is a Certified Public Manager, University of South Florida Executive Fellow, Leadership Pasco alumna, and Florida Sterling Examiner. Paula is a Rotarian and serves on the board of directors for many charitable and not-for-profit organizations. She has been recognized with numerous local, state, and national awards.
Dr. O'Neil is also the author of the book "Fighting Cancer Like a Girl". Books will be available as door prizes at this month's meeting!
